CosLog? Maybe? Update?

Hello everyone,

So I never actually decided what classifies as a CosLog? Is it only when I post cosplay photos? Or because this is a cosplay blog, everything is a CosLog unless otherwise stated? Who knows! So lets just run with this being a CosLog Update. Boom.

Alright, so a little while ago I said I was going to cosplay the Nightingale from Skyrim and Thranduil from The Hobbit. Those were both lies. Or I changed my mind, take your pick.

Instead I will be cosplaying a Diablo 3 Demon Hunter (which is rather far along but that's for another post).

This is obviously not my photo, but I really love the leg armor in this picture, but I will be keeping the same large pauldrons, breastplate and hip armor that is seen in the original designs.

Mad Moxxi from Borderlands (I'm doing her costume from Borderlands 2 because I really love the red).

I mean, come on, that's a fantastic costume, nice and easy on the sewing side but still badass as hell. I may even be able to reuse my Kiki wig for her hair.

And, someone who has not been decided yet. Its a solid toss up between like 4 characters which is really really unhelpful I know. I think that I will be going with either Spider Gwen or Bilbo Baggins. Any input is welcome.

So that was just a quick little update about things changing. All of this is being done for C2E2 2016 because I will be driving into Chicago on the 20th, so I am unfortunately unable to attend Wizard World (I WILL GO EVENTUALLY DAMMIT). So C2E2 it is.

Have a great day and keep cosplaying,

Arkham Knight Release CosLog!

Alright, so I know that I promised this post the day after it happened but well, I didn't get home until 3:40 AM and I have been perpetually exhausted since then. So, its happening now, deal with it.

Anyways, as I said on Sunday night, I work at Gamestop and there was a Arkham Knight midnight release in which my boss asked me to dress up for. So after many struggles with fabric paint, spray paint and acrylic paint (to this day I am still finding red spots on my body no matter how hard I scrub) the final product looked rather good. Here are some photos of the shindig

Here is the entire crew: from right to left - Chris as Nightwing, Me as Harley Quinn, Don as The Joker, and Daniel as Red Hood. It was a fantastic night, since my boss was dressed up as the Joker, all I did was call him "puddin" and "Mr. J" all night.

Harley Quinn and the Red Hood, this is one of my more favourite of the photos because I rather enjoy this fella.

Get it? Cause I'm a sidekick? GET IT?

Individual photo of me at the house with a nice insane smile for all of your wonderful followers.

Back at the store with the props, I really really love this photo. I think that I look badass and severely awesome. Definitely a good photo of the cosplay. Credit goes to mom.

These are the photos of the props, the cherry bomb and mallet created by Chris and Don, I am ever grateful for it because they really pulled the whole thing together.

So those are all the photos I have, it was a blast and I cannot say that I have had more fun, even at conventions before. These guys are really special to me, and I don't know if any of them follow me on this blog but if they are reading this I hope they know I love them all.

Well that was all I have until I start working on my Diablo 3 cosplay again, which will happen eventually.

Have a good night and keep on cosplaying,

Many an update and a most recent CosLog

Hello everyone,

So I apologize for not posting in such a long time, I have been really busy finishing my first year in college and then working two jobs over the summer to afford said college.

Anywhoo, I changed my mind about the cosplay's I was going to do for the next upcoming convention, and decided to create a Diablo 3 Demon Hunter cosplay instead. So that is in the works, I am using a thermoplastic medium called Worbla and Wonderflex. I will more than likely write a separate blog post about that when I get a bit further on it (as of right now I only have the thigh armor pieces and belt done so...)

So instead of that, this post is going to be about something much closer. As in tomorrow. One of my jobs is as a Game Advisor at my local Gamestop, and if any of you are gamers you know that we are releasing the new Batman: Arkham Knight game tomorrow at midnight. Now since the guys at Gamestop are fantastic and a bunch of nerds, we decided we are all going to dress up as characters from Batman for the midnight release. Now, I was not initially a part of this but my boss (Don) decided that I would make a fantastic Harley Quinn and so, here I am

I took one of my old body suits, and spray painted the heck out of it. Like trust me friends there was a lot of spray paint involved. Now if I was given more time than the two days I had, I probably would have sew in the red pieces instead of painting, or I would have taken the time to saturate and then fabric paint the areas because it would have been softer and much more breathable. Alas, that is not what I was able to do, so I spray painted. Then I decided that maybe a couple of layers of a soft acrylic paint and then spray paint would work better. Which it did.

So here are some pictures of me in the final product

Not bad if I do say so myself. So obviously those photos are just me trying on the body suit (which may have been a mistake as it was still wet and I still have red paint on my armpit because of it). So with this there will be a very simple black utility belt that I am wearing because I need to have the ability to carry a phone and credit card and such (even if it is just work, it makes me feel safer). I will be wearing black combat boots because there is no way in heck I am doing a midnight release wearing heels, though I will admit I did think about it.

Anyways, tonight I decided to try to makeup and hair that I wanted, along with sticking on the mask. So here is a picture of Harley Quinn in her pajamas.

Alright so now we have a general idea of what it is all going to look like together, but expect another post tomorrow...or maybe Tuesday because I have no idea when I will be getting home, with way more pictures of the whole thing. My boss made me a mallet and a cherry bomb, so I even have props.

Who thought I was going to get paid to cosplay? I didn't. Man I am jive.

I hope you all enjoy this as much as I did, more pictures to come.

Keep on Cosplaying,

Cosplay Update

Hello cosplay followers,

So, even though there are no conventions coming up (at least for the 211 days) I have already started my plans for the next cosplay. As most of you know, I moved to Chicago. Home of C2E2 each April. Now while I do understand that April is a rather far time away, I of course still have to get started on the cosplay decisions.

And I have.

Drum roll please for the two final decisions (third one is still in the air) for my first C2E2 visit.

I am going with Nightingale Armor from Skyrim

AND Thranduil from The Hobbit. Yes. It will be difficult. Yes. It will take time. And yes. It will look awesome as fuck.

Obviously those two photos are not mine, one being a concept art for Skyrim, and the other being an actual picture of the wonderful human that is Lee Pace. My only hope is that I can embody that man and all he is, because that would be perfection.

Anyways, just a quick check in for all you followers,
Keep cosplaying

CosLog: NYE Installment #3!

Hello everyone,
Welcome to some more progress pictures of the beautiful modern victorian dress. I added some new scalloped ruffles on the top part, and tonight I am hemming, sewing and then adding new straight ruffles on the bottom tulle area.

This is a nice picture of the full thing, it also shows how it hangs which I like.

This is an upclose picture of the two ruffled layers

This is what I hope it will look like in the end, I have the measurements on here for anyone who was wondering what they were. I would also add ruffles in one layer instead of the two like originally planned

I hope everyone has a great day, stay tuned tonight for hemming, stitching and then trying on! After that we move onto the bodice with boning and awesome corsetness.

Much love! Happy cosplay!

CosLog: NYE Installment #2

HELLO AGAIN EVERYONE
ITS LATE AND I WANT TO SHOW YOU MY PRETTY COSTUME PROGRESS! YAY

This is a picture of the bustled parks put on the dress. Its rather hard to see, and I shall post a better picture later. But I really am liking the sort of trumpet flower look that it is getting and I am contemplating not actually adding the second faux skirt.

This is the top skirt all bustled up, and in case anyone was wondering, the beautiful gathering (as seen below) was fucking difficult as all get out. And I really hated doing it, but when I got it done it looked awesome.

LOOK AT MY BEAUTIFUL GATHERING. LOOK AT IT

That was all the progress made tonight, now it is going on 1:30 in the morning, I am a bit tired and I think I am going to bed.

Much love! Happy cosplaying

CosLog: The NYE Installment #1

Hello everyone!
I hope everyone had been enjoying their summer, planning and building for whatever convention is next for you. I know many of my friends are attending Nan Desu Kan in September, I unfortunately will not be in town as I shall be moving to Chicago in August.
However, college is not going to stop my cosplaying. While I cannot plan for NDK 2014, I will be attending the NDK New Years Eve ball this winter. And that, my friends, is what brings us here today.
May I present to you....
*trumpet noise of victory*
The Modern Victorian Ball Gown Project!

This is the general design for the whole thing. I am going to sew the two skirts together, the one that bunches at the seams and the one that has ruffles along the bottom. This means the bottom skirt will be more of a faux skirt. Both of these will be sewn onto the petticoat pictured below.

This petticoat is made of a whole bunch of lavender tulle, and is actually the bottom of some dress from some garage sale ages ago. It is being repurposed into a petticoat because it is fluffy as shit.

This is the fabric that will be used as the fake bottom skirt, it is a cotton blend that is the same lavender purple as the tulle. It will have a contrast against the satin that is being used for the top skirt and bodice. I also know that it will be able to create some kick ass ruffles for the bottom of the skirt.

The first two panels of the top skirt being pinned together

This is just a better picture of the beautiful purple satin for the top skirt and bodice. I found it in my room after I cleaned for moving out. There was tons of it so I decided I would use it to make this dress.

Three panels pinned together!

All four of the panels are pinned together and I am going to start sewing after dinner. The dimensions are about 27" for the top curve, 82" for the bottom curve and right now (before hemming) it is 42 inches long. I plan to have this done before I leave to college in less than a month so I can have it be NYE and not have to worry. I will post more pictures and such after I sew it together and put the ties in so that it will punch properly. The bodice of this dress is going to be separate since the waist of the skirt is so high.

Much love! Happy Cosplay
